What is a SIP Trunk? (In its Simplest Form)
In the past, company phone exchanges consisted of boxes connected to massive cables. SIP Trunk (Session Initiation Protocol Trunking) carries phone calls over the internet instead of traditional copper wires. This means when a customer calls your company's official number, the call comes directly to our servers as internet data packets.
Connecting the Call to AI
When a customer calls, the following stages occur in our system:
- Call Reception: The customer calls your company number. Via SIP Trunk, this call is instantly routed to our intelligent Voice Bridge.
- Speech-to-Text: The customer's sentence, 'I want to book a haircut appointment for tomorrow', is transcribed into text in milliseconds.
- AI Steps In: A powerful language model (like Gemini Live) understands this request, checks the calendar, and generates a response text like, 'Sure, is 14:00 tomorrow suitable?'
- Text-to-Speech: This response is read back to the customer with a highly natural, emotive, and native-sounding voice.
Why is Latency Crucial?
